Description

Champion Radish’s are an easy-to-grow vegetable that is bright cherry red with a firm globe-shaped root. They are smooth and round, with bright scarlet skin and crisp, white flesh. Radishes make a good companion crop to other vegetables such as Blue Lake Bush Beans and Lincoln Peas.  Due to a very fast turnaround of 25 days, Champion Radishes can be planted in the spring or late summer, or both.  This can provide double the crop of other vegetables.  Radish’s reach a height of 4-5 inches and can be placed 2-3 inches apart.  Because of their hardy and resilient nature, Champion Radishes are an essential part of any Seed Bank.

 

One reason many people eat Rashish is because of their remarkable nutritional value. This food is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Vitamin A, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron and Copper, and a very good source of Vitamin C, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Manganese.

 

The descriptive Greek name for Radish Raphanus, which means “quickly appearing” and refers to the rapid germination of these plants.  The Radish dates back to Hellenistic and Roman times, though the vegetables are thought to have come from Eastern Asia.  For century’s, this flavorful veggie is perfect for quick growth and storage in a Seed Kit or Seed Bank.  A must have for any gardener.
